As the last year (photo), I'll be at the booth 811 of the publisher GRAPHIC MARROW for the duration of the XXIV^TH FESTIVAL OF THE FRANCOPHONE COMIC ART IN QUÉBEC CITY, which is integrated since recent years at the INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR (in the same city !). I will realize live caricatures, an activity that was extremely popular in 2010, especially among young visitors to the show. If you feel like it, do not hesitate to seek my services, it will make an excellent souvenir of the Exhibition 2011.

In July 2007, I got an email from a relative of the famous humorist Jean-François Mercier, who was really known primarily through his one man show entitled LE SHOW DU GROS CAVE (THE SHOW OF THE BIG IDIOT) in Québec. She wanted to offer him for his fortieth birthday a special gift, that is a per photo caricature. Between you and me: what an excellent idea ! I did it on time and the caricature was offered in August. You can see two photos of Jean-François holding the cartoon in his hands, looking happy and laughing.

In February of the following year (2008), a week night when I was pretty bored trying to find something on TV worth watching, I fell on the TV program Caméra Café (Québec version). Looking at the credits, I saw my name ! Litterally, I fell down my chair ! You can imagine ... THE TOTAL SURPRISE ! A new character of a blind lawyer, played by François Morency was named Marc Pageau ! Later in that same generic, I saw the name of Jean-François Mercier as one of the writers. That can only come from there ! What an incredible surprise !

EXHIBITION 1001 VISAGES 2008

I participate for the second time to the Exhibition 1001 Visages (3rd edition) which takes place this year with the theme THE HUMORISTS ! from the 4th September to the 12th October 2008 in the house of the culture Frontenac 2550, rue Ontario Est, Montréal (subway station Frontenac).

It's been a long time !
I retake this caricature blog abandonned for a certain time because of all kind of reasons, notably because of a chronical lack of time for the realization of the caricatures.

You have certainly no idea of the number of hours needed to realize one of those (superb ?) caricatures in colours which you can see in the archives of this blog : about a good working day, in general !!!

It is because I try to put in them the maximum of visual effects possible...
As my efforts didn't seem to seduce the public, I decided to make it short as the majority of my colleagues, meaning to pass less time in the realization. This will permit me to be near the news more easily !

5th ANNIVERSARY OF THE 9/11/01 : WHO CARES ?...

I am tired, no, I am sick of all the media's coverage around the each year anniversaries of the events that happened on the 9/11/01... Yes, of course, these events were horrible and important, but we know already all of this.
It seems that this is just a pretext to give to the president George War Bush the opportunity to make again one more hypocritical and disgusting speech on the war on terrorism in Iraq and everywhere in the world...

During that time, each single day, about 16 000 children die of starvation (according to this site). Did you know that ? Isn't it more important than the 3 000 (about) deads of the 11 September 2001 ?
I guess that the reason given for it is because a child dying of starvation is less spectacular for the cameras... Sick world.

You don't agree ? Comments welcome !

One word on my participation to the controversial INTERNATIONAL CARTOON CONTEST ON HOLOCAUST in Iran : it makes my cartoonist colleagues talk about ! I have some furious detractors on the BD Québec forum who vulgarly insulted me... That makes me laugh a lot ! I am an easy target for them, being the lonely Canadian cartoonist to have participated. It gives the occasion to some of them to dirty my reputation...
I just think that it is a tempest in a glass of water !
It doesn't seem to make a lot of waves elsewhere. The proof of the insignificance of my detractors ?...

I AM « THE LONELY CANADIAN » !!!

It was about time !

Now, I have at last been noticed a little bit by the Canadian blogosphere for my participation to the INTERNATIONAL CARTOON CONTEST ON HOLOCAUST organized by Iran !

You can see on this cartoon a kind of pot-pourri of some of the characters that appear on the cartoons I sent to enter the contest. I am sure you will notice that the Jews and the Muslims you can see on this cartoon are caricatured on the same level. I am not partisan of any of the two parties! Even myself, on this cartoon, don't look very beautiful !!!

As my name is on the LIST OF THE PARTICIPANTS since the end of last May and as I am the only one from Canada, this news is kind of history for me, even prehistory for the virtual world... I really thought that nobody would never care about it !

But, at my great surprise, some blogs have a post on it :

Steve Janke, from the blog ANGRY IN THE GREAT WHITE NORTH, commented the contest with an evident bias, and turned his text presenting me in a way to make everybody think that I am an evil anti-Semitic stinking demon... And this, without even having seen any of the cartoons I submitted to the Contest !
Isn't it dishonest ?...
How surprising, coming from somebody in Western Canada who seems to have a lot of negative prejudices towards Québec and the Québécois in general !
Maybe, he has never put a single foot on the ground of LA BELLE PROVINCE...
Anyway, I tried to defend a bit myself from the SERIOUS accusation of anti-Semitism on the comments of this post, but I was vulgarly insulted by some readers, as you can see.

Nicholas Packwood (alias Flea), from the blog GHOST OF A FLEA, maybe heavily influenced by Steve Janke, posted some malicious comments about me, telling his readers :

Come on, man ! Again, without even having seen any of the cartoons I submitted to enter the Contest, he supposed dishonestly that I deny the existence of the Holocaust because I participated to the contest !

He also posted an old photo of me from the BD Québec website : I wonder if he asked its webmaster in order to have the permission to do so, because it is copyrighted material !!! More : Nicholas seems to use illegally the bandwith of the BD Québec website for this photo !!! If this is not dishonest...
On this post, I tried also to defend a bit myself from the SERIOUS accusation of anti-Semitism on the comments, but the system comments TypeKey that Nicholas uses for his blog freezes my browser every time I try to post a comment. Just one of them appeared on the blog ! Hmmm...

I think that Steve Janke and Nicholas Packwood have deeply misunderstood the reasons given by the organizers of the INTERNATIONAL CARTOON CONTEST ON HOLOCAUST. Their obvious bias can't be seriously doubted, maybe blinded by their own emotions.

By chance, all English speaking Canadians are not that biased and do not judge people at first glance, without any proofs of their guilt !

Last Wednesday, Bryan Munn, director of the CANADIAN COMIC ART CENTRE, Guelph (Ontario, Canada), contacted me via e-mail in order to ask some questions for his blog : SEQUENTIAL CANADIAN COMIX NEWS & CULTURE.

These are the questions he asked me :
1. Why did you enter the contest ? What are your opinions about the contest ?
2. What are your opinions about the controversial Danish cartoons ?
3. What was your cartoon (can we see a copy) ?
4. What do you hope other people in Canada or around the world will take away from viewing your cartoon ?
5. Is this contest anti-Semitic ?

I find these questions as a very interesting opportunity to clarify my opinions and my position on the Middle-East politics, so I accepted to answer them in a very detailed way. My answers and one of the 4 cartoons I submitted to the contest are supposed to be published on the blog this Monday : MARC PAGEAU INTERVIEW.

I hope that those who viciously suspected me of anti-Semitism will have the honesty to take a look at it and, most IMPORTANTLY, WILL TAKE THE TIME TO READ IT CAREFULLY !

I will publish all of the cartoons on my own blogs (both French and English versions) next September.
For those interested to see them, it is a rendez-vous !

Three years since the beginning of the Unitedstato-British's war in Iraq !
And it was supposed to last only in a few weeks : it is not even finished yet, in spite of official denials of the Bush administration ! How funny are these Unitedstaters'folks ! Good calculation ! Hahaha !
According to some experts, that war will cost them a few 2000 billion dollars on the whole, instead of the 200 envisaged in an original preview... Bravo !
Their most important friends and allies, France, Germany, Canada and several others had however disadvised them to do so. They did not listen to the way of the reason and ridiculed these same allies, insulting them by a call to the boycott... One could easily conclude that Unitedstaters are their most important enemies !
Hahaha !

It is that event which gave me the taste for the editorial caricature which I had never practiced before... That was for me a discovery : dark humour ! And that led me to create this blog for you to discover them !
Do I have to thank Mr Bush for this ?!...
Does the fact that I realized cartoons criticizing the Bush administration and its foreign policy automatically makes me an anti-american ?!...
It would seem that yes, according to certain extremists of the right-wing and certain soldiers who did not refrain themselves to insult me as if I were the last of the bastards to use the freedom of expression FOR WHICH THEY'RE FIGHTING IN IRAQ ! What an extraordinary contradiction !
The people of the right-wing are really not afraid of the ridicule !

Unbelievable!

Muslim reformists (Muslim reformists, does that exist?) launches a drawing contest on Muhammed / Muhammad / Mohammed / Mohammad!

What?!?...
The goal is to draw Muhammed / Muhammad / Mohammed / Mohammad well according to certain criterias established by these reformists. In the end, all they want, it's that the draughtsman is straightforwardly their instrument to obtain their image. Nothing artistic in it! No interpretation, nothing!

Since a few days, there are informations telling that the Moslem extremists computer pirates (hackers) made attacks on various Danish sites in reprisals for the caricatures of Muhammed. There are also persistent rumours on certain forums informing us that they also target the cartoons'sites...
Would I be in their line of fire?

I absolutely don't know anything about the « hacking » things, but I think that what we can find here, really resembles to it! And you can easily notice that this visit from unknown origin comes to us directly from Turkey! I'm not a pro of technology and I don't know anything in order to protect this blog in the event of an attack... Aiiiie!!!
The suspens is on its maximum! Stay tuned!

In all cases, if you ever arrive on a white page or a page praising the religion of Islam, rest assured that I'm not associated with it and that this blog is victim of an attack from the islamist hackers!

Since I started to report the various events of what it is now agreed to call « THE MUHAMMED'S CARICATURES CONTROVERSY » (see all the titles of my posts beginning with « THE MANY FACES OF MUHAMMED »), the visits on this blog exploded...

More particularly, those coming from the Muslim world.

There is even somebody who created a direct link from a Turkish Forum on the page of the post THE MANY FACES OF MUHAMMED : SUPPORT DENMARK.

Three pages of discussion (unfortunately incomprehensible for me), it is really impressive! Really, it is a lot of honour for my little person!

Always in an anonymous way, of course! What a great courage they show everybody!

As you can notice it, there is even a Turkish comment. Islam, religion of peace?...

I never missed any respect towards the Islamic religion, have not missed any yet until now and do not intend to miss some. I am absolutely not afraid of the integrist Muslims and I militate in favour of the Freedom of expression.

I would like to point out to those who write threats and insults that I keep trace of their visit, with their country and towns of origin just as their relevant IP address and all other details which could help me to retrace them in the case of explicit threats on the integrity of my person or of real physical attacks (always possible), because I blog with my real name.

I won't laugh with that. I will never let myself being intimidated by anybody, neither being imposed by others what it is correct to think nor what I shouldn't do. I am able to determine it all alone, as an educated man!

That is why I now decided to realize caricatures making fun and criticizing certain sides of the Islam which I find absolutely unjust and completely aberrant. I believe that these caricatures will only shock the limited fundamentalist integrist Muslim imbeciles who seems to understand the world only in black or white, without any lights and shades...
I don't oblige them to come on this blog. If they are not happy with it, they can go everywhere in the cyberspace... They can even create a blog themselves, if they want it, and make their own caricatures and comments, if that pleases them! Nobody will prevent them doing so!

That is the beauty of Freedom of expression!

This is really funny!

An Israely cartoonist, Amitai Sandy, considers the fact to realize cartoons on the Holocaust is first of all allocated to the Jews, because them, they know very well the subject!

He wants to ridicule to the Iranians who organize the INTERNATIONAL CARTOON CONTEST ON HOLOCAUST (that I announced in my preceding post) and launches his own international contest on the subject by inviting the participants to draw the most anti-semitic cartoons possible!!!

This is probably the healthiest reaction that I saw since the whole beginning of the world controversy on the caricatures of Muhammed! At last, somebody which has a true sense of humour!

HA HA HA!!!

Now, we're at it! For two weeks that it was announced by Iran, the international contest of caricatures on the Holocaust has at last been launched.

If there are some fundamentalist integrist ones among the readers of this blog, it doesn't matters they are Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hinduists, Raelians or others, you will always be able to sue me!

On the 30th of September 2005 the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten published 12 cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed. Mohammedans raised a storm of protest and two artists went into hiding after receiving death threats. Islamic organisations demanded an apology from the Danish government and the incident turned into a world-wide diplomatic issue. The OIC (the Organisation of the Islamic Conference), the Council of Europe and the UN all criticised the government of Denmark for not taking measures against the newspaper Jyllands-Posten. The Danish prime minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen defended the freedom of the press and free speech and stated that any measures, if appropriate, could not be taken by the government but only by a court of law. Meanwhile in Islamic countries Danish flags are burned and Danish products are taken off the shelves. Several countries have withdrawn their ambassadors from Denmark and armed men attacked the office of the EU in the Gaza strip.

THE 12 CARTOONS

Now, there are our Muslim friends whining, lamenting, spitting and struggling for some caricatures (really inoffensive ones!) of their cherished prophet Muhammad, founder of their religion.
This event was shamefully recovered by their religious and politial leaders who encourage people to go on the streets and shouting all kinds of slogans anti-occidental.

I have my trip! ;0)

These people doen't know at all the meaning of the word democracy, whose freedom of speech is the base...

They seem to have the brain completely washed by their own religion and, unfortunately, not to have any common sense.
What's the problem for them, to see some caricatures of Muhammed published in democratic countries like Denmark or Norway?
As if there were no caricatures of Jesus drawn since more than a century?
What's wrong with that?

It's where we realize that we really don't share the same culture...
In Occident, it is an HONOUR to be caricatured!
Imagine : somebody who finds that a subject has enough interest to spend a few hours to make of it a good drawing, it is an honour for the subject!

It is something that I can't understand!
Is their belief either so fragile that some drawings come to threaten them at the point where It is necessary to tear their shirt of indignation in the face of the world?

As a cartoonist myself, I feel very preoccupied by those events.

I find that these kind of people are dangerous. They probably miss education and knowledge of the external world. Their religious and political leaders benefit outrageously from their ignorance to control them and to make them believe almost anything!

Calm yourself! Come back to earth in the REAL world.

CARTOONISTS WITHOUT BORDERS

I really don't like to speak about competition in caricature because all these damn competitors don't really need me to make their promotion...
And there are a lot of them (unfortunately) who are much more talented than me !!!

But, once is not a habit, I will introduce you a friend of mine which is a caricaturist in Brazil and very strongly talented...

We knew each other at the beginnings of the ashamed war in Iraq, on the site DEVIANT ART whose administrators had the misfortune to open a section CURRENT EVENTS on this unfair war in March 2003... This section, during the first months, was very popular and was very frequented : we could see there a lot of things, from several Unitedstater cartoonists and International ones. Most of the artistic works were against the war.

That was at that time that I had first knowledge of the work of CARLOS LATUFF (!) whose last name is already funny by itself, evoking (in the familiar language in Québec) the female pubic fleece !!! This is not a joke !
He was noticed especially by the large number of his cartoons on the topic of war. His style is less aesthetic than mine, more restrained and more effective (probably), in all cases, certainly faster of execution. In these cartoons, there are several of them which I would have liked to have the paternity so much they are right and hilarious ! The kind which one says oneself : "Shit ! I should have thought about it first !" while kicking his head with the inside of the hand.

CARLOS LATUFF now becomes to be very famous in the whole world : he even already had the incredible chance to be made prosecuted for anti-Semitism by a Swiss-based Jewish organization about a the last cartoon of "We are all Palestinians" series, whose subject was depicting oppressed people of the world over history (Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto, Blacks in South Africa and so on), and comparing them to Palestinians, prosecution which showed a lamentable failure because not-justified, our Jewish friends having susceptibility really too much sensitive when they are depicted in humour !

Come one, Jewish friends ! It means that, the freedom of speech ! When will you accept that you don't have the monopoly of the suffering in the world and when will you stop playing the offended virgins with a little joke about you ?
We can laugh at the whites, the blacks, the Asian ones, the Moslems, the Christians, the Buddhists, etc..., but not at the Jews ? What is that ? It is ridiculous ! That would seem racism by exclusion ! According to them, if I made a joke on the Jews, I would be automatically a racist. And if I ignored them, all the others would have also the right to describe me as a racist !
Their reasoning seems as simplistic as the one made by some of our Unitedstater's friends who call me anti-American because I caricature their president Bush on the topic of Iraq...
Shit !

In all cases, I would like to have the chance one day, to be sued myself for a caricature !
That would give me the supreme chance to become famous, at last !

I use the U.S. Web Site ImageShack to lodge most of my drawings for this blog. I just notice that, without any warning, somebody suppressed my picture from my base on their site, without any explanations nor a simple e-mail.
The picture is « THE « F-WORD » TO THE WORLD ».
In the two languages.
We could saw in it a little naked black child character sitting down on the sand and holding an empty metal plate murmuring : « FFFF... FFFF... FFFF... FFFOOD ! »
Nothing to write to your mother ! Any vulgarity, nothing !

HONOURS OF THE EDITORIAL CARTOONING !

As everyone knows, Canada is one of the greatest democracy in the world.
For example, I've never heard yet insulting comments from Canadians towards anybody who politically thinks differently.
I think that Canada is one of the most tolerant democracy in the world.

Since I've started to realize political cartoons at the beginning of the Iraq war and I've submitted them to Deviant Art, I've been insulted as I never was in the past, only by some courageous frustrated Unitedstaters who didn't appreciate my sense of humour...
Maybe, I suppose that it is because I shoot right in the middle of the target with most of my little cartoons. I'm always surprised by the « power » of these kind of images on people.
The « democratic » frustrated Unitedstaters don't seem to see their own contradictions when they insanely insult someone who expresses his opposite views in a democracy. They are very near of FASCISM. The problem is that they don't seem to understand it. It seems to be a concept too much hard to understand...
Please, note that most of these courageous frustrated Unitedstaters made their comments in an anonymous way. When you go to their Deviant userpage, most often, you can't see their real names !!!
LOL !

« HABEMAS PAPAM » !!!

Josef Ratzinger represents the most conservative and orthodox part of catholicism : he was the candidate of the « Opus Dei » (in other words the upper middle class).
The cardinal worked till now as prefect of discipline and as the guardian of the Church's orthodoxy, in the straight line with the Middle Age's Inquisition. On several questions, as the place of women in the Church, the one of gays, and the one of divorced people, his position seems very retrograde.
It is the first time that the Church will be directed by its former Inquisitor because he is probably the first « Great Inquisitor » to become Pope.

More, the choice of the name Benedict XVI is here a political act made by the former cardinal Ratzinger : Benedict XV (his predecessor in nomination) was the Pope who tried to impeach the modernization of Church in his times. Here is another proof of the trail that the new Pope decides to follow...

Yet, several new nicknames mock the one which was called the « Panzerkardinal » :

- The « Pope Ratzi » (paparazzi !);
- the « German Shepherd » (bark-bark !);
- etc...

Please, give him a break and a chance to prove his skills !

This is what I consider the best editorial cartoon I've ever made until this day, at the levels of the gag, the quality of drawing and the political content.

This is a self-caricature I made, just to be forgiven about the future ones I'll realize for this blog. It's n order to evacuate a little guilty feeling, maybe...
This caricature is not very flattering, is it ?

Why the pseudonym BARON BLEU-OBSCUR (DARK BLUE BARON)?
Why not...

I've always been fascinated by the real RED BARON character. For sure, I totally disagree with his military « heroic » acts during the World War One, but I must recognize that in his domain, he was the best! THE ACE OF THE ACES !
This is the kind of excellence that I am searching when doing cartoons.
And with your help (comments), I hope to succeed.

This pseudonym is a kind of tribute to the RED BARON. I choosed the BLUE colour, which I cherish a lot, to make contrast with him and which is more pacific. After some research on the web, I realized that there are lots of BLUE BARONS... Yes ! many people had this idea before me !
So, I had the idea to put the adjective DARK to qualify the colour BLUE.
It is very relevant, considering the fact that I'm practically unknown... And that my kind of humour is very often DARK !

Remark that I put a pencil on the plane, instead of a couple of machine-guns.

I will try to aim right on the target with each cartoon.
I just hope you will appreciate !

I had never liked him and never agree with a lot of his politics.

For the first time since he was elected as the premier of Canada in the nineties, I was very proud of him.
Imagine : he said « NO ! » to the U.S. administration who wanted Canada to join the coalition in the illegal hypocrit war against Iraq !
YES !

Wow ! He has balls !

He is near retirement and I just think I will miss him.

And now, just imagine if he makes such a statement in public about the Bush's administration...

In God, we trust. Yeah !

But no more trust in politicians... Especially in Presidents of the United States...

First, Mr Bill Clinton lied in court about his relationship with miss Monica Lewinsky.

Now, Mr George W. Bush and his administration lied about the existence of weapons of massive destruction in Iraq and give it us as the pretext to attack Iraq.
Mr Paul Wolfowitz (Deputy Secretary of Defense), one of the nearest collaborators to the Bush's administration, admitted two weeks ago that the U.S. government KNEW BEFORE THE OPERATION OF IRAQI FREEDOM THAT THERE WERE NO WEAPONS OF MASSIVE DESTRUCTION IN IRAQ.

This is really more serious than the lies of Mr Clinton...

This is EXTREMELY SERIOUS.

Shocking, isn't it ?

Before commenting on this, I hope you read CAREFULLY the following to the end :

I'm sad, really sad ! So sad !!! And angry. Really angry !
I feel insulted ! I'm shocked !
This is the most painful drawing I realized in my entire life.
Because I love peace and because I love America and democracy.
I'm a North American born here in Canada and I believe sincerely in democracy.

Yesterday, the ambassador of the U.S.A. in Canada in an official speech in front of Canadian businessmen in Toronto, Mr Paul Celluci, announced that the U.S. government is very disappointed and upset by the fact that Canada is not participating in that illegal war not approved by the United Nations.
The consequencies for Canada will be the reinforcement and additional restrictions to the borders of both of the countries. That means it will be more difficult for the Canadian economy to trade with the U.S. economy.

WHAT ? Is that the conception of democracy the U.S. government has? PUNISHMENT when disagreeing ?!
What kind of democracy is that? It looks like ECONOMIC DICTATORSHIP !!!

It's the same way Saddam Hussein is used to do : PUNISHMENT !

Is that the kind of democracy the U.S. government want to implant in Iraq after its victory ? It is pitiful !

The consequences for Canadians will be that a lot of honest people (that have no relations to the Iraq war) will lose their jobs.
Thank you U.S.A. !!! Thank you very much ! With friends like that, we don't need any enemies !

Canada is a sovereign and a democratic country. It is its right to decide not participate in this war. Canada is not a ghost state of the United States !!!

Can't Canada be also very disappointed and upset when the American's friend begins an illegitimate war ?

And regarding the disrespect you can find in this little cartoon, you should know that I have absolutely no respect for persons who kill human beings for a miserable basic pay. These persons forgot their consciousness in their wardrobes and are robots machine guns on two legs. Especially when they participate in an illegal, illegitimate war disapproved by the United Nations! They are war criminals.
To be a soldier is not an honourable career. It is the cheapest and the meanest way to win money. Even if you are a general.
I have more respect for PROSTITUTES !

So, in MY opinion, this little cartoon of mine is not disrespectful and is not insulting anybody's country or soldiers.
This little cartoon is just a comment on this awful, disgusting illegal war.

I sincerely think that the U.S. is dirtying itself its own flag and doesn't need me or any artists to do so.

TARGET OF THIS BLOG :
To share with interested people the editorial caricatures I made in colours, with some personal comments on the actuality which inspired me at the moment I realized them.

Doing this blog in English is for me a lot of job, because my mother language is French. So, I wish doing this will increase the quality of my English speaking.

I am a professional illustrator. I began to draw editorial cartoons just for the fun of it in March 2003, at the beginning of the Iraq war (better known as « OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM »).
I was REALLY UPSET by the arrogant and agressive attitude of the U.S. Bush's administration in this affair. I would have agreed with this war if it would have been approved by the U.N.O., but it wasn't.

That's why I began to draw my little cartoons, to express my anger and my feelings about what was going on in the world...

You will be able to see those caricatures in the ARCHIVES'section of this blog. You, now, can understand why a blog that begins in 2005 has ARCHIVES since March 2003 !

Please, note that I AM NOT ANTI-AMERICAN OR ANTI-ANYTHING...
I am an American myself, as far as Canada is in America like Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Columbia, Peru, Guatemala, Panama and all the other South America's countries... All people of these countries deserved to be called Americans, because they are !
AMERICA IS NOT ONLY THE UNITED STATES. America is NOT ONLY A COUNTRY, IT IS A HUGE CONTINENT !

So, I can't be anti-American, I would be anti-me ! That is ridiculous !

PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
Marc PAGEAU is drawing comics in Québec since the middle of the 1980's. After studies at the C.E.G.E.P. de Joliette in Arts and at the université Laval in Fine Arts, he began a career as a free-lance comic book artist, illustrator and caricaturist in 1990.

In December 1991, the Éditions du PHYLACTÈRE (Montréal small comics publisher) released his very first graphic novel : JACQUE TIROIR (JACK DRAWER, 46 pages in the European way of comic art, story by Benoît JOLY, an artist himself).

For 2 years (1998-2000), Marc PAGEAU had been the comic section editor of the Québec's science-fiction and fantastic litterature magazine SOLARIS. He had also wrote in it the chronicle called LE BÉDÉCRATE. He prepared and released in February 2000 a comic art special issue of
SOLARIS #132 (with the participation of the former winners of Price SOLARIS - comic's category).

Marc PAGEAU worked also for other artists : he lettered two graphic novels CASTELLO and VICTOR ET RIVIÈRE, story and art by André-Philippe CÔTÉ, published by FALARDEAU and SOULIÈRES editions. He associated with Éric ALLARD (story teller and penciller) to ink and letter Éric's owned creation THE RED : FACES OF EVIL, a mini-series of 3 comic books (66 pages).

He was an active member of GRAFIK SISMIK (1998-2002), a group of comic book creators based in Québec working principally for the american comic book field.

In parallel, Marc PAGEAU works as free-lance illustrator and a caricaturist.
