It was about time !
Now, I have at last been noticed a little bit by the Canadian blogosphere for my participation to the INTERNATIONAL CARTOON CONTEST ON HOLOCAUST organized by Iran !
You can see on this cartoon a kind of pot-pourri of some of the characters that appear on the cartoons I sent to enter the contest. I am sure you will notice that the Jews and the Muslims you can see on this cartoon are caricatured on the same level. I am not partisan of any of the two parties! Even myself, on this cartoon, don't look very beautiful !!!
As my name is on the LIST OF THE PARTICIPANTS since the end of last May and as I am the only one from Canada, this news is kind of history for me, even prehistory for the virtual world... I really thought that nobody would never care about it !
But, at my great surprise, some blogs have a post on it :
Steve Janke, from the blog ANGRY IN THE GREAT WHITE NORTH, commented the contest with an evident bias, and turned his text presenting me in a way to make everybody think that I am an evil anti-Semitic stinking demon... And this, without even having seen any of the cartoons I submitted to the Contest !
Isn't it dishonest ?...
How surprising, coming from somebody in Western Canada who seems to have a lot of negative prejudices towards Québec and the Québécois in general !
Maybe, he has never put a single foot on the ground of LA BELLE PROVINCE...
Anyway, I tried to defend a bit myself from the SERIOUS accusation of anti-Semitism on the comments of this post, but I was vulgarly insulted by some readers, as you can see.
Nicholas Packwood (alias Flea), from the blog GHOST OF A FLEA, maybe heavily influenced by Steve Janke, posted some malicious comments about me, telling his readers :

Come on, man ! Again, without even having seen any of the cartoons I submitted to enter the Contest, he supposed dishonestly that I deny the existence of the Holocaust because I participated to the contest !
He also posted an old photo of me from the BD Québec website : I wonder if he asked its webmaster in order to have the permission to do so, because it is copyrighted material !!! More : Nicholas seems to use illegally the bandwith of the BD Québec website for this photo !!! If this is not dishonest...

I think that Steve Janke and Nicholas Packwood have deeply misunderstood the reasons given by the organizers of the INTERNATIONAL CARTOON CONTEST ON HOLOCAUST. Their obvious bias can't be seriously doubted, maybe blinded by their own emotions.
By chance, all English speaking Canadians are not that biased and do not judge people at first glance, without any proofs of their guilt !
Last Wednesday, Bryan Munn, director of the CANADIAN COMIC ART CENTRE, Guelph (Ontario, Canada), contacted me via e-mail in order to ask some questions for his blog : SEQUENTIAL CANADIAN COMIX NEWS & CULTURE.
These are the questions he asked me :
1. Why did you enter the contest ? What are your opinions about the contest ?
2. What are your opinions about the controversial Danish cartoons ?
3. What was your cartoon (can we see a copy) ?
4. What do you hope other people in Canada or around the world will take away from viewing your cartoon ?
5. Is this contest anti-Semitic ?
I find these questions as a very interesting opportunity to clarify my opinions and my position on the Middle-East politics, so I accepted to answer them in a very detailed way. My answers and one of the 4 cartoons I submitted to the contest are supposed to be published on the blog this Monday : MARC PAGEAU INTERVIEW.
I hope that those who viciously suspected me of anti-Semitism will have the honesty to take a look at it and, most IMPORTANTLY, WILL TAKE THE TIME TO READ IT CAREFULLY !
I will publish all of the cartoons on my own blogs (both French and English versions) next September.
For those interested to see them, it is a rendez-vous !

Amazing how often people see something and then jump to conclusions, isn't it? I, for one, believe in making my decisions after having gathered whatever information I can. Sad to hear that I may be in the minority. I hope that posts like yours help to wake people up to their own ignorance.

Marc, hopefully this will sort of clear the air between our blogs. My blog is a minor blog with a minimum of readers, so I try to respond to everyone that comments. My fuse is short some say, but passion is not always controlable.
As I replied on my blog, I doubt your cartoon is one of the cartoons I showcased on my recent blog article. The article was about the iranian deception in all of the event.
You are a very talented artist; I have visited your work many times at several blog traffic sites. There has never been any reason to doubt you are an artist not a propagandist.
Anyone that judges your participation in this event without knowing you, is jumping to conclusions. I do have a problem with about 75% of the cartoons submitted...I viewed them all. You were almost certainly in the 25% of real artists.
Some of the non iranian cartoons were simply anti-war cartoons. I am anti-war, but I am not anti-kill your enemies before they kill you.
I am glad that there are those that are anti-war. Seriously, without those pointing out the need for peace we might lose our way in dealing with others.
If someone creates artwork about the horrors of war, (many have) they have my attention, for war is horrible.
Thousands of people being crushed, burnt, choked or smashed on NYC sidewalks as they jumped from the WTC Buildings is about as horrible as it gets. No one had to photoshop the photos to make it look more horrible than reality.
Hopefully you will see that my expose' on the event was not blaming any of the artists involved, with the exception of the iranian artists who let their works be censored.
Funny how no one submitted a cartoon showing the gas chambers, piles of bones, piles of shoes, piles of human hair or the ovens of Germany and Poland. I mean wasn't that part of the holocaust?

If I draw a cartoon mocking or criticizing the stupidity of Foreign Politic of the United States, I am anti-American.
If I draw a cartoon mocking or criticizing the stupidity of Foreign Politic of Israel, I am anti-Semitic.
If I draw a cartoon mocking or criticizing the stupidity of the Islam, I am anti-Muslim.
If I draw a cartoon mocking or criticizing the stupidity of the actual Government of Canada, I am anti-Canadian.
If I draw a cartoon mocking or criticizing the stupidity of the actual Government of Québec, I am anti-Québécois.
And if I draw a cartoon who shows a dog, I am anti-animal.

If I am a propagandist of something, then I am a propagandist of peace, honesty and fairness.
I am tired of the lies and dishonesty of our hypocritical Governments. I try to express this feeling in my cartoons.
If the maxim « Violence is the last refuge of incompetence » is true, then almost all of the Governments of the world are strongly incompetent.
What is the reason to spend so much money in the military instead of helping the poor people?
